About this ladder
- The detour
- FORGE and CARDS differ in only 4 places, but par is 5. One move has to go sideways - changing a letter that was already right, or changing the same letter twice - before the ladder can finish.
- The wide rung
- The par route passes through FORTS, where 16 different single-letter changes all make real words - more than at any other rung on this ladder. Most of them lead nowhere useful.
